Meet Matthäus!

We are pleased to announce that, due to high enrollments, Matthäus Huelse will be joining the CKGS Instructional Team weekly! He has subbed for us a few times now, but we are excited to have him working with our adult classes every week! Please see below for his bio...

Matthäus Huelse is a Teaching Assistant at the University of Kentucky and has received his Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Transylvania University. Currently, he is working on his concurrent Masters in both German Studies and Public Health. He has taught German courses from the novice level up to teh intermediate level and has led discussion sections for advanced students. In the summer fo 2014 he instructed a study abroad experience in Munich, Germany in which students had the chance to spend 5 weeks living with host families, earning credit for their students and traveling throughout southern Germany.

Matthaeus' background in Public Health, specifically in Health Behavior and Interventional work, and his experience in language teaching make him an effective communicator. Furthermore, he is looking forward to presenting in the future on increasing motivation in language learning at various regional conferences.

Spring Semester Has Begun!

The CKGS Spring Semester is off to a running start. The Youth Class has met twice, and the adult class once. We have more than doubled our enrollment over the fall and continue to find more and more people interested in learning with us.

We are currently in discussion to design and open a summer day camp for youth to experience an immersion experience for a week in June. Many details still to sort out, including schedule concerns, but stay tuned for possible news on this!
